Let’s be clear, Channing Tatum has been one of, if not THE, single worst headline actor working in Hollywood today. Watching this guy act on screen has been like a form of self inflicted gun shot wounds, without the cool scars to go along with it.
He was positively dreadful in “Fighting” which was only amplified by the fact that he was trying to act alongside Terrence Howard who was actually quite good in the film. He was a walking train wreck in “G.I. Joe” and has pretty much just been visual poison in everything he’s done in his career. However…
Last year his lead dramatic performance in “The Eagle” was clearly a role outside of his ability… BUT… he showed signs of development and growth in his performance. On the surface it appeared there could be a chance he was legitimately getting better. Just a fluke, or was he legitimately improving?
Well, the new red band trailer for “21 Jump Street” just came out and I’ve got to tell you, I’m impressed. Tatum seems to have some comedic chops which to be fair, he displayed a little bit in “The Dilema” last year. On the surface it looks like he actually holds his own and fits right in with comedy veteran (it feels weird to say that about a guy who’s so young) Jonah Hill. The trailer is quick, funny and has suddenly turned me from dreading this movie into really looking forward to it… and yes… Channing Tatum is part of the reason for that. So cudos to him.
Tatum has no less than SEVEN films coming out in the next 2 years. If he’s as good in “21 Jump Street” as he looks in the trailer… and he keeps growing like he did in “The Eagle”, maybe that title will have to be changed from “Channing Tatum is Awful” to “Channing Tatum WAS Awful”. We’ll have to wait and see.
Watch the red band trailer for “21 Jump Street” here and let me know what you think:

It’s funny you mentioned “Fighting” because that’s immediately what I thought of when I read the title. I remember being excited for that movie and then being let down.

Posted by thejoker100ify | November 3, 2011, 8:34 pmI think the movie Son of no One will tell us if he can act. This could be funny but they are blatantly cashing in on the name and of a terrible show at that.I predict a box office fail.
Posted by chris | November 4, 2011, 8:33 amI’ve never liked Tatum cause he is just a bad actor. Yet, I very much liked The Eagle and for a good while at the start of it he actually fooled me into thinking he had somehow managed to become an ok actor but then he sucked again and almost ruined the movie for me. Never again will I think of anything remotely positive about him in films. Sadly it seems he is going to be in a few movies that look interesting so I need to suffer him in the future too.
Posted by Shadess | November 4, 2011, 12:23 pmWow. This movie looks absolutely TERRIBLE. I don’t even think a Johnny Depp cameo would save it.

Posted by Yousuck | February 28, 2012, 3:29 amHiya! Quick question that’s totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My blog looks weird when viewing from my apple iphone. I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might be able to fix this issue. If you have any suggestions, please share. Cheers!
